Silvaelorn is the ancestral homeland of the elves, a coastal realm of eternal spring where vast forests of cherry blossoms cover the land in pale pink bloom.
The land itself is said to have been shaped by Thal’Kor, the World Forger, who granted the elves a realm of exceptional beauty. Over the centuries, the noble houses of Silvaelorn have instead devoted themselves to Nymariel, goddess of the High Heavens, whom they believe embodies divine perfection.
The elves also honor Liora, whose blessings they credit for the long life and unaging beauty of their kind.
The capital city of Silvaelorn was raised within the deepest bloom forests, where living trees were shaped into halls and towers of elegant woodcraft. The ruling houses govern from these structures beneath endless canopies of blossoms and clear night skies.
Within Silvaelorn society, beauty and refinement are not merely cultural ideals but sacred measures of divine favor.
The Gift and the Bloom
Elven tradition holds that the cherry blossom forests themselves are a sign of divine approval.
According to noble doctrine:
The cherry blossom blooms only where the divine blood is pure.
This belief has shaped the rigid social structure of the realm, where lineage, physical perfection, and grace are seen as reflections of divine blessing.
The Exile of the Commonborn
Over time, Silvaelorn’s noble houses began separating their society according to perceived purity of blood and form.
Elves judged less refined in lineage or appearance were relocated westward to the city of Thalorwyn, a thriving settlement built within forests of maple and gold-leaf trees.
Unlike the capital, Thalorwyn is governed by guilds and artisan councils rather than noble houses. Though prosperous and culturally vibrant, it exists entirely outside the authority of Silvaelorn’s aristocracy.
Common-born elves may not dwell in the capital unless they serve a noble house.
While cherry blossoms do not naturally grow in Thalorwyn, its citizens have cultivated thriving trade networks built upon craftsmanship, music, and scholarship.
Among the nobles, this prosperity is often cited as proof that commoners may flourish in worldly matters even while lacking divine sanctity.
The Western Exiles
Beyond Thalorwyn lies the mist-veiled forest of Velshael, a region seldom spoken of within the noble courts.
Those sent to Velshael include:
- the disfigured
- the sickly
- the half-blooded
- those declared spiritually blighted
The region receives no formal trade or aid from Silvaelorn.
Within the Codex, Velshael is recorded as a place of exile where many of the forgotten peoples of the elven realm have disappeared into the deep forests.
The Fractured Bloom
In recent decades, reports have emerged of cherry blossoms appearing within the city of Thalorwyn.
The phenomenon has spread slowly through portions of the maple forests surrounding the city.
The noble houses of Silvaelorn have issued no official explanation.
Among scholars and priests, interpretations vary.
Some claim the blossoms are a sign of heresy or corruption of the natural order.
Others believe the blooming may signal a deeper change within the divine favor that once defined the realm.
The Canonwardens record the phenomenon as unresolved.
Amariin Annotation
While the social doctrines of Silvaelorn attribute the cherry blossom forests to purity of lineage, the Canonwardens possess no record within the Canon confirming this belief.
The recent spread of blossoms beyond the capital remains a matter of continued observation.
