Archive Record

The Helm of Rashkell is a corrupted relic believed to originate from the final centuries of the Third Shaping.

The helm was forged within the volcanic depths of Drak’nul, a region long lost to the upheavals that ended the previous world. Its frame is said to be crafted from the talons of Merida’s Black Griffons, creatures once revered as guardians of ancient skies.

The relic was unearthed in 1707 of the Wordbound Age, discovered within a collapsed cavern near the western outpost of Duskhall in the lands of Miradorn.

Despite the passage of ages, the helm shows no sign of decay or wear.

Witnesses report that faint pulses of corrupted magical energy emanate from the artifact at irregular intervals. Scholars believe this energy originates from arcane forces that existed prior to the current Shaping.

The helm is believed to seek a bearer.

Those who have studied the artifact claim it exerts a subtle influence upon nearby minds, as though calling for a protector worthy of its power.

Known Properties

Recorded effects of the Helm of Rashkell include:

  • Resistance to conventional damage
  • Persistent emission of corrupted magical resonance
  • Psychological influence upon nearby individuals
  • Apparent awareness of potential wielders

No confirmed bearer has successfully worn the helm without severe consequences.

Historical Context

Fragments recovered from the cavern site suggest the helm may have belonged to a figure named Rashkell, though no surviving record confirms whether this name refers to a mortal warlord, a guardian order, or the relic itself.

The connection between the helm and the Black Griffons of Merida remains unclear.

Amariin Annotation

Artifacts classified as Wyrmbound relics frequently display signs of corrupted magical persistence tied to events preceding the Fourth Shaping.

The Helm of Rashkell exhibits several characteristics consistent with relics influenced by draconic or primordial forces.

The Canonwardens recommend continued containment and observation.
